TRANSPORTATION
Please see the web site
http://www.armadahotel.com.tr/pg_en/location.asp the directions to get the Armada Hotel / the region of the workshop (Historical Peninsula of Istanbul) from Atatürk Airport.
The most convenient way to the hotel from the airport is to take a taxi via the coastal road. After passing Yenikapı, turn left at the traffic light with the 'Ayasofya-Dedeefendi' sign, then take the first left turn, and you will see the Armada Hotel on that same street (The Armada Hotel is not on the coastal road, it is behind the Kalyon Hotel).
We suggest that you take a taxi, most efficient mode of transportation. When you emerge from the terminal building, take one of the yellow taxis and be sure that they start the meter. The current starting fee on the meter is 2.50 Turkish Liras. The fees are per car, not per person. It is customary to round up the taxi fares. Depending upon traffic jam, it will cost you approximately 40 Turkish Liras. This is approximately 20 Euros.
ATMs
ATMs can be found at airports, train stations, and at many banks in Istanbul. Most of the major credit cards are accepted.
Credit cards
The major credit cards are accepted in most larger shops and restaurants, but usually not in small shops and taxi. It is therefore advisable to carry at least a small amount of cash.
Currency
The official currency of Turkey is the Turkish Liras (TL) (
currency converter).
Electricity
Like in most European countries, electricity is supplied in Turkey at voltage of 220 volts and a frequency of 50 Hz. Two-wire-plugs are used (
see electricity world standards).
Exchange
Money can be exchanged at almost all banks. Exchange offices can also be found at airports and on the streets of the touristic regions . The opening hours of the banks are mostly Monday-Friday 08.30 am-05:00 pm.

Invitation
We are glad to announce that a "p-process workshop" will be organized by
Kocaeli University and
Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics (JINA)
in Istanbul (TURKEY) between May 25th and May 27th, 2011.
The workshop consists of seven topical sessions and one round table discussion about present and future status of the p-process. Each session includes an introductive talk and contribution talks. Please distribute this first announcement also to other colleagues that might be interested in this workshop.
We recommend everybody to book flights and hotels as early as possible, since Istanbul is a very popular touristic destination and very busy with conferences in May. With the time, the hotel prices might increase. The number of participants is limited to about 40 people.
We look forward to seeing you in Istanbul.
Kind regards,
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nalan Özkan
